Daily Work: Assignments we do each day are considered daily work. This includes class work, production assignments, taking notes, quizzes, and projects. Often a specific assignment will span several days. It is not enough to get it done--students must strive to GET IT DONE THE BEST IT CAN BE DONE! Racing through an assignment with an end product which is "okay" is not good enough.

Quizzes: You will have occassional quizzes on material covered in class.

Tests: Each unit will conclude with a Unit Test.

Work Habits, Participation, Review: Students will receive a “work habits” grade worth 15% of their quarter grade. Class time is an important commodity. It is not to be wasted. All work is considered important. Your “work habits” grade will reflect: promptness in getting started; efficient use of class time; participation in class activites; persistence in working toward goals; attention to and following of directions; absence of disruptive behavior. You will be expected to review for tests and quizzes you will be given a grade for the effort you spend in reviewing for tests and quizzes.

Learning Requires Discipline

To make this semester the most productive and enjoyable it can be, I have developed a few simple guidelines. Following these will help you be an active learner and an asset to the class environment.

Treat everyone with respect

  • Go to assigned seat when you enter the room, stay seated at appropriate times
  • No internet without permission
  • Food, drinks, electronic devices, and cell phones will be confiscated. No exceptions.

Student Responsibilities

Students will learn to take responsibility for their learning. I will encourage you to go beyond the minimum--to become an overachiever. The more you put in, the more you will get out!

Attitude and Work Habits: Students should come to class on time and be prepared to work. Be positive and helpful. Students must keep their work area neat and organized. Each student should respect their own work and that of their classmates.

Responsibilities:
1. Keep your assignments organized in your class folder and in your class notebook. Remember to SAVE ALL WORK to your classroom folder.
2. In case of an absence, the student needs to check the assignments page for missed work and see the teacher for any handouts if necessary. Please arrange to get any class notes from a classmate. A student has 5 school days to complete any missed assignments. Failure to complete work in this time period will result in a zero.

3. Late work is accepted within 5 school days of the assignment date with points deducted.
4. Students are responsible for their assigned computer workstation. Notify me immediately if something is wrong.
5. Bring proper supplies to class.
6. Obey all school rules.

Required Materials:

Please bring to class each day:

  • Three-ring binder and notebook paper
  • #2 pencils

A note about cheating:

Please DO NOT submit work if it is not your own. I have access to your folders at all times and I am able to determine if you have completed the assignments. Save all work to your folder. I will check to see you have done this. If you submit work other than your own, you will receive a "0" for the assignment and will NOT have the opportunity to make up the assignment. The person who "lends" you their work will also receive a "0." If you are caught cheating on a test or if you are talking to another student during a test you will receive a 0 for the test.
